Urban planters

Urban planters bring greenery into built-up areas — available in round, rectangular and square shapes, made of architectural concrete or steel, and weather-resistant all year round.

Planters are used both as decorative features and as functional barriers restricting vehicle access to selected pedestrian zones — we will help select the shape and size best suited to the planned layout of the space.

A practical advantage of planters is the option to change the planting seasonally — from spring perennials to evergreen conifers that reduce maintenance work in the colder months. Drainage holes in the base prevent rainwater from collecting and protect plant roots from rot. Planters, like benches and litter bins, are one of the pillars of our street furniture range.

The choice of planter material — architectural concrete, steel or composite — affects not only appearance but also practical aspects of use such as weight, resistance to mechanical damage and the temperature inside the container in extreme weather, which matters for the condition of the plants' root systems.

Thanks to their considerable dead weight, concrete planters work well as a physical barrier separating pedestrians from the carriageway or car park while also serving a decorative purpose — a solution widely used to define pedestrian zones and to prevent unauthorised parking on pavements and urban squares.

Steel planters, usually lighter than concrete ones, make it easier to rearrange planting displays seasonally and to plan spaces flexibly for outdoor events, although they require a carefully selected scratch- and moisture-resistant paint finish to stay looking good throughout their service life.

Seasonal replanting — from colourful perennials and annuals in spring and summer to evergreen conifers in autumn and winter — keeps the space attractive all year round with relatively little maintenance, limited mainly to replanting periods.

Good-quality planters made of frost- and UV-resistant materials can stay outdoors all year round without being removed for the winter, unlike cheaper plastic alternatives that need to be stored indoors seasonally.

The role of planters in mitigating the urban heat island effect is often underestimated, yet introducing even small clusters of greenery into a densely built city centre genuinely lowers surface temperatures in the immediate vicinity, improving comfort for people in the area on hot days.
