Swings

Swings are one of the most recognisable features of any playground. We offer single, double, seesaw-style and cradle-seat models designed for the youngest children, all compliant with PN-EN 1176.

A robust, certified structure and secure fixings make our swings suitable for nursery, residential and municipal playgrounds alike.

An impact-absorbing surface is required beneath every swing, such as sand, washed gravel or a rubber safety mat, with a safety zone sized in accordance with PN-EN 1177, taking into account the installation height and the swing range of the seat.

Swings are an essential part of every playground; we also invite you to browse the other equipment in this category, which combines well with them.

Swing frames are usually made of glued laminated timber, galvanised steel or a combination of both. Timber blends better with the natural surroundings of parks and urban woodland, while steel requires less maintenance over the long term and copes better with extreme weather, which can be important for playgrounds in open areas without tree cover.

Seats vary considerably depending on the age group of the users: deeply contoured cradle seats with safety harnesses are intended for the youngest children who cannot yet keep their balance unaided, while flat strap seats or plastic seats suit older children who use the swing more independently and more vigorously.

The spacing between individual seats and the distance from the supporting structure should allow for the full swing range at maximum amplitude, so that children at play do not risk colliding with each other or with structural elements positioned too close. Incorrect spacing is one of the more common mistakes made when playground layouts are planned in-house without professional input.

Periodic technical inspections should include checking the chains or suspension ropes for corrosion and wear, the condition of the bearings at the fixing points and the security of all bolted connections, as these are the components most exposed to material fatigue during many years of intensive use by children visiting the playground every day.

When planning a new playground, it is worth considering a combination of several swing types: a seesaw-style model encourages play among peers, a cradle seat keeps the youngest safe, and a classic single swing remains a versatile choice for every age group using the recreational area.
