A typical playground playhouse features windows with decorative shutters, a low door sized for children, a pitched roof and a small terrace or porch where several children can sit at once. Although purely decorative, these architectural details matter a great deal for play: children engage more readily in imaginative scenarios when the equipment resembles a real, if miniature, building.
