Metal litter bins

Metal litter bins stand out for their enhanced durability and appearance. They work well in prestigious areas of offices, in reception areas and in spaces where both functionality and a solid look of the furnishings matter.

Their resistance to mechanical damage makes them a good choice for heavily used rooms.

The smooth metal surface is easy to disinfect and does not absorb odours in the way some plastics do, which matters in rooms with higher hygiene requirements. Their robust construction also means the bin needs replacing less often than cheaper plastic models.

Alongside plastic and wooden versions, metal is one of the materials available in the litter bins category.

Corrosion protection is key to the service life of a metal bin. Hot-dip galvanising protects steel more effectively and durably than powder coating alone, although the two treatments are often combined to achieve both resistance and an attractive finish in the chosen colour. For bins intended for indoor use, away from moisture, a paint coating alone is usually sufficient.

Metal bins are available in both freestanding and wall-mounted versions. The latter work well where floor space is limited, for example in narrow office corridors or toilets, where every square metre matters for ease of movement.

The capacity of bins of this type ranges from a few litres for desk models to several dozen litres for versions intended for staff kitchens or conference rooms. The right size should be chosen based on the expected number of people using the room and how often it is cleaned by service staff.

The steel these bins are made from is fully recyclable. At the end of its service life it can be melted down in its entirety, leaving none of the hard-to-process residues generated by some composites or mixed plastics. This is an argument that increasingly features in the purchasing policies of companies and institutions mindful of their environmental footprint.

The metal bins in our range also differ in how the lid opens: from simple manually opened versions, through pedal models that allow hygienic use without touching the body, to swing-lid versions used where fast waste disposal matters in areas with heavy footfall.

An inner liner, usually a removable bucket or a bag on a frame, makes daily emptying much easier for cleaning staff, with no need to tilt or turn over the entire, heavier metal body.
