Playground furniture sets come in a version permanently fixed to the ground, which removes the risk of tipping over when a larger group of children is playing at the same time, and in a freestanding version that is easy to move to suit the setting's day-to-day organisational needs, for example when arts and crafts move from the classroom to the outdoor area.

Tabletop and seat heights are chosen separately for different age groups: one set of proportions suits two- and three-year-olds, while another suits older children getting ready for school, for whom a table that is too low would no longer be comfortable.
