Bottle and can crushers

Bottle and can crushers significantly reduce the volume of packaging waste before disposal. They are a practical way to empty bins less often and to make recycling more efficient.

They are increasingly used in offices, schools and food outlets that want to manage their waste efficiently. Crushers are one of the products in our accessories range, alongside bin bags and bin liners.

A crusher can be mounted directly next to a bin or set up as a free-standing unit at a packaging collection point. A smaller volume of waste means bags are collected less often, which can be a noticeable saving where there are many users, for example in schools or office buildings.

The crushing mechanism is usually based on a hand lever or a mechanical press designed for the most common types of packaging: aluminium cans and PET plastic bottles. A sturdy housing made from steel or reinforced plastic keeps the unit stable even under intensive daily use by many people.

In food outlets and bars, where the flow of empty packaging can be particularly heavy at peak times, a crusher allows several times more waste to fit into the same bag. This directly reduces the number of trips to the back of house during the working day and saves staff time.

Reducing the volume of packaging waste also benefits the environment. Fewer journeys to the collection point or sorting facility mean lower emissions from waste collection, and better-filled bags make further recycling easier, as the packaging is not accidentally compacted together with other fractions.

Crushers are usually intuitive and safe to operate, even for pupils at school. The mechanism is protected by a guard that prevents contact with moving parts during the crushing cycle, so the unit can be included in day-to-day recycling duties without additional adult supervision.

Compact portable versions also work well at outdoor events and fairs, where organisers want to reduce the number of bags to be removed after the event. A single unit placed at the main food area can genuinely ease the clean-up logistics after a large event lasting several days.

It is worth combining the crusher with a recycling bin for plastics and metals to create a single, coherent collection point. Users crush the packaging and drop it straight into the correct compartment, which reduces the number of steps and increases the chance that the waste ends up where it should, rather than in the nearest general waste bin.
