Waste containers
Within the Waste and recycling department, waste containers are one of the key product subcategories. Waste containers are the basic equipment of any waste management system. We offer plastic and metal containers with capacities from 60 to 1100 litres, suitable for single properties as well as large housing estates and manufacturing plants. Our range also includes bell-type, mesh and underground containers, which are used where appearance and space saving matter.
The right capacity depends on the number of residents or users and on how often the local waste collection company empties the containers. We can help you match the solution to your actual needs. See also recycling bins if you are looking for a multi-container system.
The material a container is made from has a direct effect on running costs over time. High-density polyethylene containers are lighter, corrosion-resistant and cheaper to buy. However, under very heavy use, for example on large housing estates with frequent contact with the refuse vehicle's lifting equipment, they may need replacing sooner than steel equivalents. Galvanised steel raises the initial cost but performs well where resistance to mechanical damage and a long service life without loss of functionality are important.
Container colours in the Polish waste management system are not chosen at random: yellow is associated with metals and plastics, blue with paper, green with glass, brown with biowaste, and black or grey with mixed waste. When ordering a larger batch of containers for a housing estate or municipality, it is advisable to agree a consistent colour scheme with the local waste collection company from the outset, to avoid mistakes at collection and later complaints about incorrect sorting.
The container design must be compatible with the type of lifting equipment on the collection vehicle, either comb or hook type. Before ordering a larger number of units, it is therefore advisable to confirm with the collection operator which emptying system is used in the area. Handles or trunnions that do not match the refuse vehicle's lifting equipment can cause unnecessary delays to the collection schedule, especially with containers larger than 1100 litres.
A growing number of local authorities and property managers are asking about containers made partly from recycled plastic. This reduces the environmental footprint of the purchase without compromising strength, as good-quality recycled HDPE granulate retains similar resistance to UV radiation and low temperatures. For public institutions, this can be an additional argument in tender documentation relating to environmental criteria.
When planning a purchase, consider not only the containers themselves but also where they will stand. A hard, level surface makes it easier to manoeuvre wheeled containers, and a covered bin shelter extends the life of the plastic by protecting it from direct sunlight and rain all year round.
